Verdant Drop centers on a pear-shaped green onyx cabochon, chosen for its rich, saturated color and smooth glassy depth. I set the stone by hand in an ornate sterling silver gallery-wire bezel, whose delicate openwork follows the curve of the onyx without competing with it.
The pear shape gives the pendant a graceful downward line, while the polished surface of the stone catches broad reflections of light rather than the sharper flashes of a faceted gem. Against the cool brightness of sterling silver, its vivid green feels almost botanical, somewhere between a fresh leaf and deep forest shade.
