Silver Rampart Necklace

Forged by hand from solid sterling silver, Silver Rampart takes its inspiration from the broad oval forms of ancient Celtic flat shields, translating that restrained geometry into a modern piece of wearable metalwork.

The pendant begins as flat silver sheet and is shaped through foldforming, a process of folding, hammering, annealing, opening, and refining the metal until dimension emerges from the sheet itself. A strong vertical ridge runs through the center while a crossing horizontal line divides the surface, giving the piece an architectural, shield-like structure.

Across the face, hand-hammered textures shift from smooth reflective planes to more deeply worked areas, so the pendant changes constantly with the light. Rather than hiding the evidence of its making, the surface retains it: every ridge, indentation, and subtle irregularity records the movement of hammer against silver.

At approximately two inches long, Silver Rampart has enough presence to stand alone while remaining wonderfully easy to wear, a small piece of armor shaped entirely by hand.
