Inspired by the necklaces depicted on the daughters of Akhenaten and Nefertiti in the Princess Fresco at Tell el-Amarna, Daughters of Amarna I translates one of ancient Egypt’s most striking color combinations into a long, wearable strand.
Deep blue high-grade lapis lazuli rondelles alternate with polished carnelian tube beads, creating a measured procession of blue and red around the necklace. Small 14kt gold-filled beads punctuate the pattern with warm flashes of gold, recalling the precious-metal accents that so often accompanied brilliantly colored stones in ancient Egyptian adornment.
At approximately 21 inches long, the necklace falls with an elegant, elongated line while remaining light enough for easy wear. The strong geometry of the carnelian tubes contrasts beautifully with the softer, stacked profile of the lapis rondelles, giving the strand a distinctly architectural rhythm.
Rather than recreating an ancient necklace literally, Daughters of Amarna I draws from the color, repetition, and visual language of the Amarna period, allowing the inspiration to remain recognizable while becoming something entirely wearable now.
