Autumn in Eleusis

In ancient Greece, Eleusis was home to sacred mysteries centered on Demeter and Persephone, whose story became inseparable from the changing seasons. The pomegranate stood at the heart of that story: a symbol of abundance and fertility, but also of Persephone's descent into the underworld and her eventual return.

The Autumn in Eleusis Bracelet draws from that ancient imagery in glowing carnelian and gold.

Large 10mm natural carnelian beads have been prism-cut into geometric, double-terminated forms that catch the light across broad facets. Their color moves from burnt orange and amber to deeper flashes of red, with the natural variation and internal character of the stone still visible beneath the polish.

Warm gold stardust-finish rondelles punctuate the carnelian, their fine texture contrasting with the smooth, glassy surfaces of the gemstones. At the center hangs a three-dimensional 18kt gold-plated pomegranate charm, split open to reveal a tiny interior scattered with warm cubic zirconia accents, a small jeweled echo of the seeds within.

The bracelet measures approximately seven inches and is finished with a 1.5-inch oval-link extender chain for an adjustable fit, along with a 14kt gold-filled lobster clasp.

Ancient in inspiration but entirely wearable, Autumn in Eleusis carries a little of that old symbolism with it: ripeness and return, sunlight and shadow, and the enduring promise that what disappears beneath the earth may yet come back.
